Photo from this weekend

Went with some friends to a cottage in the country. This is one of the few photos I took that weekend.

Jun. 9th, 2014

I just went out cycling earlier tonight. I cycled for 26.6 kilometers, which Google tells me is 16.5 miles. All of this was within the city limits of Reykjavík.

So I did some damn fool thing here. LJ informed me that I was using the old version of the friends page and that there was this new one to try out. Being curious I clicked the thing, and frankly I hate the way it looks. About a third of the page is just white space, another third is all sorts of widgets (calendar, events, comments etc.), and the remaining third is the actual friends feed.

Is there any way to change it back? Either to the way it was before, or at least to some version that gives more than a third of the available space to the actual friends feed.

A couple of photos

Went to London last weekend, and among other things I took a few photos

FWIW, my Flickr page is at where you can maybe see some half decent photos.

May. 13th, 2014

It's now been a year since my last post.

Just sayin'

May. 13th, 2013

I got myself a bicycle and rode it to work and home. I didn't go the same route to and from work, but the total distance covered was 10.2 km (6.34 miles for your metric illiterates). Now I need to cut down the time it takes, it was almost 15 minutes to work and almost 19 from work to home. I also need to not dress this damn much for a simple bike ride.

Photopost, yet again

It's International Book Week. The rules: Grab the closest book to you, turn to page 52, post the 5th sentence as your status. Don't mention the title. Copy the rules as part of your post.

Flickr Explore and my photos

Flickr has this Explore feature. It's supposed to contain the 500 most interesting photos for that particular day and therefore one would assume the 500 finest photos that day. So far I've gotten seven photos on to Explore. Interestingly those photos aren't necessarily those I like best, compare my ten most popular photos with the ten I like best.

For extra fun all the photos I've gotten onto Explore have been shot since I updated my camera from a Canon 400D over to a Nikon D7000, not that there's a connection there.

You can click the photos here to go to their Flickr page where you can see them bigger.

SvínafellsfjallThe first photo I got on to Explore was taken about a month after I bought that new camera. I was on a photo trip with two of my friends in the south of Iceland. We took a long weekend, I took a day off work and we went and took a bunch of photos.

The other two had lots of photo equipment, filters and stuff like that. At that time all I had was the new camera and the lens that came with it, and the Canon stuff I was trying to sell to finance the recent purchase. Anyway we stopped by a small pool by the side of the main road around the island. While they were making themselves ready to take photos by selecting a lens, attaching a filter or two etc. I jumped out of the car as soon as it'd stopped and started taking photos. This was one of them.

Then after the trip this was one of the photos I decided was good enough to edit and publish. I uploaded the photo to Flickr, and soon I got comments and comments on the photo. I had no idea what was going on until somebody commented on another photo I had uploaded that day congratulating me on getting the photo to Explore. Yeah, I got two there at the same time. That other photo is the one here of the moonlit icebergs.

The first photo got to #19 and the second made it to #194.

Since that day I've gotten five more photos onto Explore. Of the seven I have had there, five of them are taken in Iceland and two overseas. The four of the five in Iceland are taken in a relatively small part of the island, basically east of Vík (slightly west of the southernmost point of Iceland) and west of Höfn (town almost as far south and eat you can go in Iceland). The fifth is taken a 15 minute drive from where I am currently sitting. The ones taken overseas are both of spiral staircases, one of them is in the Vatican and the other is inside the Arc de Triomphe.
